April is here!!
And with it ~ a fresh focus designed to support some of the most dynamic, creative, and complex clients we work with..
This month inside SSI, we’re exploring:
Sandtray Therapy x ADHD
ADHD often shows up in ways that can feel difficult to track, interpret, or respond to in session, ESPECIALLY in Sandtray.
But when understood through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, these patterns offer powerful insight into regulation, processing, and strengths.
To support your work this month, we’re starting with two core resources:
1. Training Video
“Reasoning Before Regulation: Sandtray with ADHD Clients”
In this training, Amy walks through a foundational shift in how we approach ADHD in the tray-moving away from compliance-based models and toward understanding the “why” behind what we’re seeing. This framework will help you better interpret client behavior and respond with intention.
2. Handout
“ADHD and the Brain”
This SSI-designed resource breaks down key aspects of how ADHD impacts attention, regulation, and processing. It’s designed to support both your understanding and your ability to translate these concepts into your clinical work.
As you move through these resources, begin noticing:
- How ADHD traits may already be showing up in your trays
- Where you might be unintentionally expecting regulation before understanding
- What shifts when you lead with curiosity instead of correction
We’ll continue building on this foundation throughout the month with practical tools, directives, and clinical frameworks you can immediately integrate into your sessions.
Stay tuned for next Monday’s release!
