June 2025 Week 4

Good Morning & Happy Monday!

Today we'll be touching on tip #7 and #8 -

Tip #7 = The most important thing in the sandtray room...oorrr the secret ingredient ;).. is YOU! Your window of tolerance is what they will borrow from and heal with during the session.

Now what this means is that we have to pay attention that we're regulated, focused, and aware of our window of tolerance FOR our adult clients..I've attached a window of tolerance image as a reference!

Actively doing the work, learning how we ourselves regulate, and applying self-care on a daily basis can allow us to let our clients borrow our window of tolerance!

Check out this pdf workbook on self-care for therapists by Jeffrey Barnett - it breaks down the challenges we face and how we can do our best to take time for OUR self-care and wellness. Set some time aside sometime this week to really digest it all and reflect on how you can apply this to your personal life!

Tip #8 = Adults will use the sandtray to regulate during the session, usually unintentionally!

It's a great method that can naturally soothe the lower levels of the brain, while also integrating the prefrontal cortex!

So pay attention to their breath patterns, gestures, fidgeting, etc. to notice when their bodies are trying to regulate, then you can step in and guide them to regulation.

And to conclude, I'll be hosting my Facebook Live Q&A on June 26th @12pm in our Penthouse Facebook group! Mark your calendars and come as you are to ask any and all the questions!

Whether it's a question on working with adults in the Sandtray, nerding out about our favorite miniatures, or just chatting about our week - come join me for 15-20 minutes and let's connect!

 Enjoy your week!!

 Until next time,

 Amy
